Waving Solace Off

Waving Solace Off

POETRY

By Heikki Huotari

if aurora borealises are any indication the extraterrestrials are at peace and the
definition of life is accordingly revised      the random acts and I are independent
and identically distributed so sing it sideways what’s a wandering eye
or appendage to do      you may arrange yourself triumvirate in any of six ways a
moving average and a married bachelor manifested on a cloudless day but with
permission      now you’ll know them by the solace they wave off or by the
minotaur designed by their committee      the committee on rereading the report
says it’s alive and the committee on rereading the report suggests that I imagine
I’m attached to some front runner by a bungee cord      I answer that the sunset was
exquisite then it wasn’t I’m a fool
