Stacie McCall Whitaker - Stone Coast, Maine

Written By: Talal Alyan

for Hala

I know your story well,
I have studied the stretch
of this calendar, carved
in pen marks and anecdotes.

I have months, too. have
seen the spine of the Pacific
bellow to its severed sibling.
and if ever this cord is cut,
know that you will not plunge,
our pact is no pact at all.

bring it to the Atlantic
and hear it tell you
it is happy
to be alone.
